The need for establishing an academy for imparting good coaching for Civil Service aspirants in the state was felt in the early nineties, as the number of candidates who made it into the civil service decreased considerably. On analysis it was understood that this was mainly due to the absence of a quality coaching institute in Kerala which catered to the needs of the civil service aspirants. With the establishment of KSCSA in Thiruvananthapuram, a long felt need of the civil service aspirants of the state was fulfilled.

KSCSA functioning under the administrative control of the Centre for continuing Education Kerala, was established with the primary objective “to provide quality coaching to civil service aspirants of the state at a relatively less cost”. Ever since its inception there has been a steady rise in the number of students entering the portals of this academy. The exceptional coaching imparted by our excellent and experienced faculty coupled with a well-equipped library are the chief features which make KSCSA the most sought after destination in Kerala for civil service aspirants. KSCSA has over the years carved out a niche of its own as a centre of excellence in moulding young minds reach top positions in central civil services. Apart from the main centre at Charachira, Thiruvananthapuram, KSCSA has nine Sub Centres in Kerala.
